ServiceNow Integration

Connect the systems around ServiceNow so the workflow runs end to end.

An unintegrated ServiceNow platform is an island: data is re-keyed, approvals stall, and nobody trusts the records. We connect ServiceNow to the systems around it — identity, HR, ERP, CRM, monitoring, security and collaboration platforms such as Teams.

Every integration starts with a written contract: payload, direction, authentication, error handling and retry behaviour. Integrations designed during UAT fail in production; integrations designed on paper first do not.

Good fit if

  • ServiceNow data and your ERP, HR or monitoring tools do not agree
  • Approvals or fulfilment require manual copying between systems
  • You are adding a module (ITOM, SAM Pro, HRSD) that depends on reliable data feeds
  • An existing integration is unreliable and nobody knows why it fails

Useful to have first

  • API documentation and a technical contact on the other side of each connection
  • Network access decisions (direct API or MID Server) agreed with your infrastructure team
  • Service accounts and credentials provisioned under your security policy

What the work covers

  • IntegrationHub spokes for standard platforms and REST/SOAP integrations where spokes do not exist
  • MID Server deployments for systems reachable only inside your network
  • Inbound integrations: scripted REST APIs and web service endpoints in ServiceNow
  • Outbound integrations: RESTMessage and SOAPMessage calls with retry and error handling
  • Identity and HR feeds, ERP and procurement connections, monitoring and event ingestion
  • Collaboration integrations, for example approvals and notifications surfaced in Microsoft Teams
  • Integration documentation, monitoring and failure-runbook design

How we build it

Outbound calls use RESTMessage or IntegrationHub spokes with explicit HTTP timeout values, retry policies and error handling, so a slow downstream system does not stall a business process.

Inbound endpoints are Scripted REST APIs with versioned paths and ACL-protected roles; payloads are validated before any write occurs.

MID Server integrations keep credentials inside your network — ServiceNow communicates through the MID Server rather than directly to firewalled systems.

Each integration has a runbook entry: what it does, what failure looks like, who is notified and how to re-drive it. Integration monitoring is agreed rather than assumed.

What you receive

  • Working integrations deployed to production with monitoring agreed
  • A written integration design for each connection (direction, payload, auth, errors)
  • Credentials and connection records configured in your instance
  • Failure runbooks and retry behaviour documented
  • Handover so your team can operate and troubleshoot each connection

Common questions

IntegrationHub spokes or custom REST?

A spoke where IntegrationHub covers the target platform — it is maintained by ServiceNow and upgrades cleanly. Custom RESTMessage or scripted integrations where no spoke exists or the use case is specific.

Do we need a MID Server?

Whenever the target system is not reachable from the internet — Discovery, many ERP connections and anything firewalled inside your network. We assess reachability before recommending one.

How do you handle integration failures?

By design, not by luck: timeouts, retries, error logging and notifications are part of the written contract. Each integration has a runbook so failures are re-driven by your team, not investigated from scratch.

Can you integrate ServiceNow with Microsoft Teams?

Yes — approvals, notifications and service desk interactions surfaced in Teams are a common request and work through ServiceNow’s collaboration integration capability.
